Problem Solving Skills
Brain Traps presents a series of mind bending problems that expose thinking habits that often hide solutions to obvious problems. This video explains the "why" in "Why didn't I think of that?"
The video invites viewers to count chocolate chips in cookies, push a pretzel through a small hole, divide a pizza into thirds in a fair way, and more.
Another mind twister from Brain Traps:
You are a contestant on a TV game show. The host shows you three boxes. One contains $1,000, the other two a bar of sponsor's soap. You pick box A. The host opens box C to reveal it contains a bar of soap. He offers you a chance to switch your original choice to box B. Should you switch or stay? What difference will it make?
The program is 15 minutes long, but requires at least an entire class period to use.
