The capstone of the Guidance and Discipline series, Coping with Challenging Behavior addresses the concept and implementation of positive guidance as a technique to avoid and avert problematic behaviors. Teachers air their concerns about balancing individual vs. group needs, and discuss various ways to help children learn problem-solving techniques as an alternative to challenging behavior. We also raise the issue of “time-out”, and its use in the classroom.
