Education Coordinators and Directors discuss the importance of initial and ongoing training for their staff and themselves. They relate their own instruction in the particular curriculum assessment model they use, and describe how they share this information with their staff and provide further support and continuous training throughout the year.

Educators discuss issues they’ve encountered while training teachers in various assessment techniques. Instructors agree that training teachers with varying levels of writing skills, computer skills and knowledge of child development is a challenge. Trainers note that a willingness to find and schedule time — time to train, time to provide ongoing support, time to make observations and collate data — is important. Also discussed are ways in which teachers can link assessment information to curriculum, and make plans based on the information they’ve gathered.
